Drew

Drew cut his teeth in the electrical industry in high school selling load centers and Romex at the local hardware store in Longview, WA. After college, he joined a management trainee program with a national electrical distributor and spent five years in sales, projects and management in eastern Washington and north Idaho.

Moving to Seattle in 2006, Drew joined GE Energy’s Industrial Solutions team and worked with OEM and industrial accounts in the Puget Sound for the better part of four years. It was this experience that heightened his knowledge of gear and controls. After a short stint out of the electrical world, Drew joined the team at Access Electric Supply in 2013 due to their reputation as a leading provider of gear solutions. He focuses his time on solving problems of industrial users and OEM’s in the greater Puget Sound area.

Outside of work, Drew’s hands are pretty much full with three young boys. When time permits you might find Drew on the links or slopes, but more often than not, he’s at the park with the boys.

Howard

Howard began his career in the electrical distribution business in 1979 when he was hired by WESCO as the district’s graduate trainee. After completion of the training program he was promoted to the industrial outside sales position in the Seattle branch. Shortly thereafter, WESCO successfully bid the user call contract with the Boeing Company. That initial award directed his career path in the distribution business, whereby Boeing became the primary customer for the following 12 years at WESCO.

After a rewarding career with a major supplier, Howard and Goff Smith left for greener pastures and opened up Smith & Benzel Electrical. Again, Boeing and major electrical contractors doing business with Boeing became the focus of S&B. In 2001, Goff Smith retired and Howard merged S&B with Access Electric. The last chapter was written, Access Electric has been home for the past 12 years and a career of mostly independent work is winding down. The compliment of new and energetic personnel will most certainly keep Access Electric in good hands. Work appears to have come full circle, the first of 2014 Howard will be working for the man again.

Scott

Scott graduated from the University of Washington in 1982 with an engineering degree. Fulfilling a desire to begin a career in technical sales, Scott joined General Electric in their Technical Marketing program which led to field assignments in PLC’s, Motors and Controls. After six years in Sacramento as a GE Sales Engineer, Scott moved into management with GE Supply in Seattle.

Within two years, the entrepreneur in Scott started Access Electric Supply in 1991. As business grew with Boeing, local industrials and OEM’s, Access Electric became a distributor for GE and Siemens along with dozens more, specializing in gear and control solutions. Partnering with Howard, the two purchased their Renton building in 2005.
In his spare time, Scott enjoys playing golf at Tumble Creek with his beautiful wife Tauni and two children, Shelby and Shane.

Shad

Shad began his electrical career in 2000 shortly after moving to the Seattle area from Iowa. He worked for the then “GE Industrial Systems” focusing on gear solutions for both electrical distributors and contractors. During his 5 years with GE, Shad was given many diverse and wide reaching responsibilities. This broadened his account base and led to him developing relationships across the contractor spectrum, in addition to key industrial accounts.

In 2005, one of those accounts – Access Electric Supply – gave Shad a chance to move one step closer to these contractor and industrial accounts and he jumped at it. Using his background and gear focus to serve these customer directly, Shad had developed a reputation as a problem solver for all his customers gear needs. In 2010, Shad joined the ownership group at Access.
