These carts, colloquially known as White Elephants due to their 100’ power cords and aircraft tow bars are regular products that we supply to the aircraft industry to get tooling power to machinists around an aircraft. With an input of 200 amps at 480V, an internal transformer, numerous industrial outlets and built-in safety features, these units are industrial grade.

We team up with a number of partners to design, build, test, and label these units, and they’re another great example of a unique product we supply to address a unique problem.

About The Project

A Puget Sound area refinery was looking for a ready-made solution to reduce install time and labor for power distribution within its plant. With our numerous OEMs and industrial background, Access was able to provide a manufactured building, built to the stringent Washington Gold Standard – while also adhering to a Class 1, Div 2 environment.

This 60-foot long unit housed (3) switchboards, all fed with busway from outside the building, (6) MCC sections, as well as distribution panels. With this turnkey solution, Access provided the end user with a compact, clean electrical distribution solution that saved them significant field install time.

Papermills and other heavy industrial facilities with large power requirements often engage in annual testing and maintenance of their power distribution systems to ensure reliability. Numerous regional industrial facilities rely on Access Electric Supply to provide them with service technicians to perform services during their planned outages.

Services include testing of high voltage, medium voltage and low voltage switchgear and circuit breakers, testing and oil sampling of transformers, battery testing, relay testing, maintenance, cleaning and torquing of power busses, etc. Test reports are generated for historical trending purposes and when components are identified as deficient, resources are deployed to repair or replace in an expedited fashion.

About The Project

A leading aerospace manufacturer in the Puget Sound region was constructing their largest facility in decades to support the production of composite wings. This 1MM+ square foot facility had large and unique power requirements to support the numerous tools that would be set in place over the years.

The electrical contractor and end-user selected Access Electric Supply to provide custom panelboards with unique features to keep dust out. Over 400 panelboards and 200 transformers (among other products) were built and delivered throughout the two-year project. Production of the equipment was timed with an evolving construction timeline to ensure the right product was in-house when required.

About The Project

An established paper mill on the Washington state peninsula was upgrading its paper machine to produce a product in higher demand. Due to changes to the controls and system, new power requirements were required.

With a tight construction timeline and a constrained footprint, Access Electric Supply teamed up with Siemens to develop a back-to-back 5kV MCC that fit the size of the room and met current NEC requirements for clearances. The approval drawing process was done in an expedited fashion and the project timelines were met.

All of these goals were accomplished while being the most competitive and responsive bidder. We finalized the project with factory commissioning and an extended warranty.

With 472 million cubic feet of space to light up for crucial manufacturing process, an LED retrofit was inevitable. The client, a major aerospace manufacturer, issued a design specification for a custom designed fixture that would achieve best in class efficiency, life, lumen dispersion and heat rating.

Access Electric Supply was invited to participate in the competitive process along with numerous other teams. After multiple iterations on design, the team settled in on a single fixture style, with multiple mounting and voltage configurations to meet the various installation styles.

Our design was selected as the winner due to achievement of all aspects of the design criteria and a history of performance in other buildings at this site. The result was a dramatic reduction in energy from 830 watts to 440 watts and an increase of measured foot candles from 15 to 80, benefiting plant costs and worker safety and productivity.

When starting equipment for a 50-year-old air compressor was evaluated, it was determined to be unreliable with a high arc flash hazard level. Furthermore, the across the line starting technique was spiking demand charges from the utility.

The owner of the equipment (a major aerospace manufacturer in the Puget Sound) asked the team at Access for reliable starting equipment that would reduce strain on their mechanical equipment and keep the voltage for the 26kV grid stable.

Access Electric Supply teamed up with Motortronics to develop an 800 amp soft start rated for 4160V and a new synchronous excitation package. The end solution provided greater reliability and stability of their electrical system and helped migrate their equipment into the latest technology. The outcomes on all aspects were significant.

With the continued demand for advanced building materials, a large multinational manufacturer drew on the team at Access Electric Supply to supply a complete electrical system that would provide reliable infrastructure to power their key processes.

With numerous changes throughout the build, the end user relied on accurate order management to make modifications on the fly and ensure critical dates were hit. Access ensured the project was a success with factory startup on advanced equipment and comprehensive documentation at project completion.
